A Tradition of Giving Since 1978

The Police Amateur Athletic Foundation (PAAF) was founded in 1978 and incorporated in 1980. This non-profit corporation was organized for the purpose of providing support for amateur athletics and athletic events in which San Jose Police Officers compete with the general public, thereby generating a greater person-to-person contact between police officers and the South Bay community they serve. PAAF is currently made up of over 600 San Jose Police Officers and non-sworn personnel and is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Over the past 15 years, PAAF has donated over $550,000 to various local youth charities including Wish Upon a Star, YMCA, San Jose Police Activities League (PAL), Special Olympics, Abrazos and Books, and the Boys and Girls Club of San Jose. This money has been raised through various sporting events including a San Jose Police Officers Memorial Softball Game featuring San Jose Police Officers competing against members of local media and professional sports teams.

In 2004, PAAF was a major sponsor of the Nor Cal Hershey Youth Track and Field Program. Through PAAF’s funding, over 400 boys and girls were able to compete in the San Jose City Wide Youth Track and Field Meet on May 23, 2004. PAAF was recognized by the San Jose City Council at the Nor Cal Hershey State Track Meet for their generous donation, and PAAF looks forward to an on-going relationship with this worthwhile event.

PAAF was also honored to have been selected the host organization for the 2001 California Police and Fire Summer Games held in San Jose. This event was the third largest amateur sporting event in the World with over 5,000 participants in over 60 events.
