PAAF Team Budget Requests

New Officers for PAAF:

On October 11th, 2005, Andy Trevino officially stepped down as President of PAAF after over 15 years in that position. Andy has been instrumental in keeping the Foundation together and moving forward over the years. He has been at the forefront of most of PAAF’s fundraising over the years and was primarily responsible with bringing the 2001 California Police and Fire Games to the City of San Jose. I can only hope that I can continue the path that Andy has helped build for our Foundation. On behalf of not only the Board of Directors, but the members of PAAF and the countless people that have benefited from Andy’s hard work and determination, I just want to say “Thank You”.

PAAF also lost our former Vice President Candy Lopez to a well-deserved retirement. Candy recently retired from the San Jose Police Department and will be continuing his work with the USA Boxing Team and working with local boxing clubs in the San Jose area as well as the San Jose Police Activities League and the San Jose Police Department Boxing Team. We will definitely miss his presence on the Board, and again, I would like to take this time to thank Candy for his years of service to the PAAF Board.

We are all looking forward to bringing new and exciting events to the Community as well as providing more services to our members and supporters.

News From the Board:

PAAF is currently looking into upgrading the SJPD Gym at PAC. Over the past few months we have been collecting surveys from the individuals who use the workout room and asking them for their recommendations. One of the most asked for pieces of equipment are elliptical machines to replace the older machines like the Nordic Track and Rowing machines. PAAF is contacting companies to get bids for at least two of these machines for the workout area. We are also looking at upgrading the free weight area with new racks and dumbbells. Hopefully we will also be able to upgrade the TV situation in both the weight room as well as the aerobic area. And last but not least, we will be putting in a heavy punching bag. If there are any other improvements that you would like to see done please contact any of the Board members.

PAAF is also looking into setting up Sports Camps throughout the Community for the kids of the Greater San Jose area over the next year. We would like to see our members help us in organizing these camps, so if you having any interest in setting up a one or two day camp for local kids in your Community for baseball, basketball, hockey or any other sport, please contact any PAAF Board member. Without our members help, we can’t succeed!

PAAF is sponsoring our 2nd Annual Holiday Toy Drive with the Eastside YMCA. This year we will be giving out toys and gifts to several hundred kids in the Eastside San Jose area. We would like to thank the Toys R Us at 1082 Blossom Hill Rd. in San Jose and manager, Annie Vargarin for their help in this project. If you have any questions regarding this event or would like to donate funding for the purchase of the gifts please contact any PAAF Board Member.

If there are any upcoming events involving our members or the local Community that you think should be on our website please contact me. This Foundation is built buy our members and can only continue to grow with your help!

See you next month,
